A Liberal Revolution by Hanael Bianchi

 An in depth investigation of the effect of Vatican II on one particular Archdiocese, that of Baltimore. This is an excellent and unique take on the consequences of Vatican II, because it avoids doctrinal controversies or a high level analysis in terms of theology or Church history, Instead, Bianchi dove into the archives and tells the story at the ground level, in terms of how V2 was implemented and how the clergy and laity responded to it. A lot of interesting results from it.

Medjugorje The First Twenty-One Years by Michael Davies

 Comprehensive account of the alleged apparitions occurring in the former Yugoslavia since 1981.

Spoiler alert: Our Lady is not appearing in Medjugorje.

Evangelical Is Not Enough by Thomas Howard

 Excellent book from the late Thomas Howard (of Beverly Farms) showing what Catholicism has that Evangelicalism does not. It's a great book revealing insights on Catholic Sacramental life.

A Map of Life by Frank Sheed

 Excellent short primer on the Catholic Church and its place in our lives.

Turned Around by Peter Kwasniewski

 A defense of the Catholic Latin Mass against objections, especially as compared to the New Mass. Excellent.

Christus Vincit by Archbishop Athansius Schneider

Indispensable book in these days when the highest echelons of the Catholic Church seem determined to undermine the deposit of faith. Archbishop Schneider, from Kazakhstan, lives up to his namesake St. Athanasius in standing as a bulwark of faith. A light in these dark times.

Edmund Campion by Evelyn Waugh

Waugh's short and very readable biography of the Jesuit martyr. Salutary reading in these days when it will likely become increasingly difficult to remain a faithful Catholic.

To Change the Church by Ross Douthat

Subtitled "Pope Francis and the Future of Catholicism."

This is Douthat's take on the Francis Pontificate and, in particular, how Francis has revealed himself to be essentially a 1970's style Catholic liberal. Douthat is not particularly sanguine about the immediate future of the Church - neither am I - but holds out hope in the long run. And if the Church is what she claims to be, that hope will be vindicated.

Excellent response to the New Atheism, made in terms of showing just what it is that Christianity has added to the world and what it might lose when (if) Christianity disappears.

On The Third Day by Piers Paul Read

Novel about the discovery of what appears to be the bones of Christ in Israel.

The Miracle Detective by Randall Sullivan

I was checking out Pope Benedict's Jesus of Nazareth from the library and happened to see this book in the same section of shelving.

Sullivan is a reporter for Rolling Stone who became interested in the investigation of miracles, specifically Marian apparitions. Much of the book is about the time he spent in Medjugorje, where he became acquainted with most of the principal players. The book also contains some interesting interviews with Fr. Benedict Groeshel and Fr. Gabriel O'Donnell.
