Stay Close by Harlan Coben
This is the first Coben I've read in a long time (2014), and it's a good book, a real page-turner. I'll try another one.

Natural Law and Human Rights by Pierre Manent
Another great book by Manent, among the most penetrating political philosophers of today. He is excellent at diagnosing the modern malaise that afflicts the West.

Lost Light by Michael Connelly
Book 9 (of 20) in the Harry Bosch series. A pretty good entry, with Bosch determined to solve an old case involving the murder of a movie production assistant.

Treasure State by CJ Box
The latest in the Cassie Dewell series. The Joe Pickett series by Box ran out of steam a couple of entries ago, but the Dewell series is still fresh and excellent.
The Age of Entitlement: America Since the Sixties
Excellent analysis of the effect of civil rights laws on our history since the 60's.

Challenge for the Pacific by Robert Leckie
Leckie was a WW2 Marine veteran of Guadalcanal and several other campaigns. His story is included as part of the HBO Band of Brothers series The Pacific.
This book is Leckie's account of the Guadalcanal campaign. It's an excellent, engaging read, mixing description of the high level strategy with in-the-foxhole details. There are a lot of personal details about the individuals involved, and Leckie's own experiences on Guadalcanal give a realism not often reached in these type of histories.

The Closing of the American Mind
I've read this many times - it's one of my favorites - and somehow it didn't make it on to this reading log.
The Dumbest Generation Grows Up by Mark Bauerlein
A follow-on to his earlier The Dumbest Generation. An excellent analysis of the failure to educate the Millennial Generation and its unfortunate consequences.
