Star Crossed by Kimberly Moore

This is the story of Lisa Nowak, the astronaut who went off the rails and attacked her sometime boyfriend's new girlfriend at the Orlando Airport back in 2007. The author didn't get any exclusive interviews, so the sources are police and court records and whatever was in the papers. The book is filled out with a lot of detail on astronaut training and the details of space shuttle missions, which aren't always strictly relevant to the story but are interesting nonetheless.

Good entry in the Bosch series

A Death in Eden by Keith McCafferty

Book 7 in the Sean Stranahan mystery series. Another good tale. McCafferty is consistently good. This book features Stranahan's friend Harold Littlefeather in a leading role, with Stranahan a relatively minor character. A good departure as Littlefeather is an interesting individual who it was well worth developing.

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

Book of the Month Selection for May. This is a good story of a husband who disappears leaving his wife a cryptic note.

Dark Sky by C.J. Box

#21 in the Joe Pickett series. A solid story with Joe Pickett struggling to survive in the mountains while he and a Mark Zuckerberg type are chased by killers. By this point in the series the stories are getting a bit formulaic but they are still good reads.

Heretics Yet Again

I did another periodic reread of G.K. Chesterton's Heretics. My original post on it is here.

The House on the Cliff by F.W. Dixon

Second in the Hardy Boys series, I've been reading out of nostalgia. Not a bad story. Action packed.

The Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger

Very good Book of the Month Club Selection. Sort of like Pretty Little Lies but this is about getting kids into a school for the gifted.

Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane

Another OK Book of the Month Club selection.

The Night Swim by Megan Goldin

Decent Book of the Month Club selection.

The Girl in the Mirror by Rose Carlyle

The Day is Now Far Spent by Robert Cardinal Sarah

Outstanding analysis of our cultural crisis.

The Demon in Democracy by Ryszard Legutko

I haven't been keeping up with this blog... some late entries.

This book is a profound meditation on some of the similarities  between communism and liberal democracy, by a Polish philosophers who has lived through both.
